c. 1860 Wedgwood & Co. “Venetia” Transferware Tureen

Sale price$135.00

A finely detailed transferware tureen by Enoch Wedgwood & Co. Ltd. in the “Venetia” pattern, featuring an intricate arrangement of stylized florals, geometric borders, and classical ornament rendered in a soft, flowing sepia-brown tone. The octagonal form, paired with sculptural side handles and a delicately molded lid, gives the piece a strong architectural presence while maintaining an elegant restraint.

The design reflects the influence of the Aesthetic Movement, where decorative arts drew from Renaissance and classical sources with an emphasis on pattern, balance, and refined surface detail. Pieces like this were created to bring visual interest to the table, yet translate seamlessly today as decorative objects—whether styled on a dining surface, within a cabinet, or repurposed as a vessel.

Origin: England, Enoch Wedgwood & Co. Ltd., circa 1860.
Material: Transferware ceramic.
Dimensions: Approx. 11.5" L x 7.5" W x 5.5" H.
Condition: Light surface wear consistent with age; discoloration and crazing present; minor loss to glaze in a few areas.
