Portrait of a Maiden, Attrib. Henri Rondel

Sale price$950.00

A finely painted 19th century French continental school portrait. Unsigned and attributed to (in the style of) Henri Rondel (French, 1857-1919) who was known for his portraits, particularly those of women. Oil on canvas set in it's original period frame.

The term "Continental School" refers to European artists outside the British Isles, often associated with influencing the artistic styles of the time. These works of art can often be very desirable and collectable because of their historical significance and ties to the artistic societies that painted them and the artists they produced. Their collectability is further enhanced by the prominence of many artists and movements during this period, with works by even lesser-known artists often reflecting the quality and innovation of their more famous contemporaries.

In overall good antique condition. Some paint loss near the face (pictured).
