Pergolesi Neoclassical Urn Ornament Engraving

Sale price$150.00

A framed decorative engraving after a neoclassical ornament design by Michelangelo Pergolesi, whose influential plates were first published in London in 1777 as part of the series Designs for Various Ornaments. Pergolesi’s work became an important visual reference for architects and decorative artists working in the Georgian and Adam styles, featuring elegant urns, classical figures, and delicate arabesque ornamentation inspired by ancient Roman design.

This composition centers on an ornate classical urn flanked by scrolling arabesques, suspended ornaments, and cameo figures, rendered in the refined neoclassical style that defined late 18th-century decorative arts. The engraving is presented with soft color accents and a teal field that highlights the architectural symmetry of the design.

The original inscription referencing Pergolesi’s 18th-century publication remains faintly visible beneath later coloration, indicating a decorative reproduction printed after the historic engraving plate. Presented in a black and gilt frame with linen matting, the piece has a refined architectural presence that works beautifully within traditional interiors, libraries, or spaces inspired by classical design.

A timeless decorative reference to neoclassical ornament, Pergolesi designs remain highly influential within architecture, furniture design, and interior decoration.
