Maritime Oil Painting — Ships in Heavy Seas
A vintage English maritime oil painting on board depicting ships navigating rough waters beneath a turbulent sky. The work is presented in a substantial gilt-finish composition frame bearing an authentic Biggs & Sons, Carvers, Gilders & Picture Restorers (Bond Street, London) paper label on the reverse. While the label itself dates to the 19th century, both the painting and frame are most consistent with mid-20th-century English craftsmanship. A richly atmospheric coastal scene, balancing the romance of the sea with a quiet, decorative presence.
Origin: England, mid-20th century.
Material: Oil on board, composition frame with gilt finish.
Dimensions: 22" × 25.5".
Condition: Light surface wear and age toning; stable and well-preserved with gentle patina to frame and panel.
