"La Celestina", Spanish Leather-Bound by Fernando de Rojas

Sale price$110.00

A richly preserved Spanish edition of La Celestina, the celebrated tragicomedy by Fernando de Rojas. Known one of the most influential works of Spanish literature and a cornerstone of Renaissance drama. This petite volume is bound in warm mottled calfskin leather with raised bands and a gilt-lettered spine, presenting the unmistakable presence and gravitas of a serious early 20th-century literary binding.

Originally published at the close of the 15th century, La Celestina bridges medieval and Renaissance thought, exploring love, desire, morality, and human ambition with remarkable psychological depth. The text shown here was printed in Madrid by Imprenta de la Revista de Archivos, Bibliotecas y Museos, located at Calle de Larra 6 y 8 — a respected cultural press active at the turn of the century, making this an early 1900s scholarly Spanish edition.

The interior retains beautiful age toning, crisp typography, and the original title page with publisher’s emblem intact. The leather binding displays natural patina, characterful surface variation, and gentle wear consistent with age, lending the book a handsome, collected presence. Whether styled in a library, study, or layered atop a console, this volume offers both intellectual and decorative weight.

An exceptional object for collectors of classical literature, Spanish history, and timeless interiors.
