His works frequently appear in period gilt frames and were popular among British and Scottish collectors of domestic genre and landscape art. Though little is documented biographically, his paintings reflect affinities with the Victorian naturalist school and artists such as Sidney Richard Percy and Alfred de Bréanski, emphasizing mood, tonality, and the quiet grandeur of rural Britain.
