Green Alabaster Shell-Form Catchall
Carved from richly veined alabaster, this sculptural catchall takes the form of an oversized shell with gently scalloped edges and a fluid, organic silhouette. The stone exhibits layered tonal variation ranging from soft celadon to deeper moss green (likely added during the stone casting process), with natural stone translucency visible along thinner edges.
Alabaster carving of this type was widely produced in Italy during the mid-20th century, particularly for decorative objects inspired by classical and marine forms. Substantial in scale and weight, this piece functions beautifully as a catchall, vide-poche, or standalone decorative object.
Origin: Italy, Mid-20th century.
Material: Alabaster stone.
Dimensions: Approx. 14" x 10" x 4".
