English Gentleman’s Leather Dressing Suitcase

Sale price$525.00

A handsome English leather traveling dressing case, thoughtfully fitted with original interior compartments and glass bottles for personal grooming and medicinal use. Designed for portability, the case features the letters "F.J.B", a locking closure (key not present), sturdy leather handle, and a well-organized interior with fitted loops for bottles, tubes, and papers.

The case retains its original glass bottles with silver-tone screw caps, along with a slim cylindrical tube. All typical of gentleman’s dressing cases of the period, which often combined grooming essentials with personal remedies for travel.

Inside is an original paper receipt from Budleigh Salterton Cottage Hospital, dated 16 June 1938, bearing a Lloyds Bank stamp. This evocative detail anchors the case in pre-war England and offers a glimpse into its documented use during the late 1930s.

The leather shows rich patina, surface wear, and markings consistent with years of use, contributing to its character and authenticity. The interior remains intact, with the fitted compartments preserved.

A refined and historically grounded object, ideal for display in a study, library, or cabinet of curiosities.
