E. J. Ridgway Pedestal Dish in the Alba Pattern

Sale price$150.00

This pedestal dish is an English transferware compote by E. J. Ridgway, decorated in the Alba pattern, a known late 19th-century design distinguished by its naturalistic botanical motifs and warm, refined palette.

The piece features a shallow bowl with elegant scrolled handles, raised on a baluster-form pedestal foot. The surface is decorated with finely rendered foliage and berry motifs, accented by restrained gilt detailing along the rim and handles. The elevated form and generous scale make it particularly well-suited for display as a centerpiece, compote, or decorative object on a sideboard or console.

E. J. Ridgway was one of the prominent Staffordshire potteries of the 19th century, recognized for producing high-quality decorative wares for both domestic and export markets. Pedestal forms in patterned wares such as Alba are less commonly encountered than plates or bowls, adding to the appeal of this example.
