Carved Stone Fruit with Toadstone Leaves — Pear, Apricot, and Cherries
Hand-carved stone fruit, including a pear, apricot, and a cluster of cherries, each accented with delicately shaped leaves likely carved from toadstone—a translucent variety of fluorite commonly used in Italian decorative objects. These pieces are mounted with wired stems and naturalistic branch forms, a technique frequently seen in mid-20th century Italian export work.
Origin: Italy, mid-20th century.
Material: Carved stone fruit with toadstone (fluorite) leaves and metal wire stems.
Dimensions: Approx. 3"-4" L/W.
Condition: Light wear consistent with age, including minor surface scuffs, natural inclusions in stone, and slight patina to metal elements; overall very good vintage condition. Some chipping present on leaves (both apricot and pear).
