




The History of England from the Accession of James II
A handsome five-volume set of The History of England from the Accession of James II by Thomas Babington Macaulay. Published in London by Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans in 1856 (eleventh edition). Bound in period half calf with gilt tooling, raised bands, and green gilt-lettered spine labels. The set features marbled boards and marbled endpapers, with the armorial bookplate of Frank Bibby (motto Vi et Virtute).
Macaulay’s celebrated history is a cornerstone of 19th-century English historiography, admired for its sweeping narrative style and political insight. This finely bound set not only makes an impressive library presence but also carries provenance through its early ownership.

Binding: Half calf leather with gilt tooling, marbled boards & endpapers.
Condition: Excellent antique condition. Some expected shelf wear and rubbing to bindings; interiors clean.
