c. 1869 Prescot History Volumes, Phillip of Spain and Charles V
A striking trio of antique leather-bound histories by William H. Prescot, each richly gilt-tooled with ornate spine panels and warm, timeworn patina. While they display as a cohesive set on a shelf, these are coordinating volumes rather than a perfectly matched title run: Volumes I and III are from Prescot’s Philip II of Spain, and Volume II is from Prescot’s Charles the Fifth.
Style them stacked on a side table, tucked into a bookcase vignette, or lined up spine-out for that classic gilt-and-leather moment.
Origin: Philadelphia, c. 1869.
Material: Leather bindings with gilt tooling
Condition: Wear consistent with age; rubbing and surface wear to leather and gilt, patina throughout; structurally sound and display beautifully
