B.G. & W. “Regent” Pattern Egyptian Revival Transferware Plate

Sale price$55.00

A richly detailed transferware plate in the “Regent” pattern by B.G. & W. Late Mayers, featuring a structured medallion design with classical symmetry and distinctly Egyptian Revival motifs rendered in red, blue, and gilt tones.

The design reflects the late 19th-century fascination with ancient Egypt—seen in the stylized ornament, repeating geometric borders, and symbolic detailing that echo broader Victorian interpretations of Egyptian design. Pieces like this emerged during a period when archaeological discoveries and global exhibitions were influencing decorative arts across Europe.

The underside mark includes the B.G. & W. “Regent” stamp alongside a British registration diamond, dating the pattern registration precisely to April 12, 1880, firmly placing it within this wave of Egyptian Revival influence.

Striking on its own or layered into a plate wall, it brings both structure and historical depth to a collected interior.

Material: Transferware ceramic with enamel decoration.
Dimensions: Approx. 8.5" Diameter.
