19th c. Rosewood & Ebonized Sewing Chest

Sale price$695.00

A beautifully preserved Victorian sewing chest, crafted in richly figured rosewood with serpentine lines and contrasting ebonized trim. The hinged top opens to reveal the original red velvet-lined compartment with braided detailing. Knobs feature mother of pearl inlay.

Three serpentine drawers offer additional storage, each fitted with turned knobs and accented by dramatic wood grain. The carved, ebonized base adds sculptural presence and anchors the chest with classic Victorian ornamentation. A rare and collectible example that serves as both a functional storage piece and a statement décor element.

Origin: England, late 19th century.
Material: Rosewood with ebonized wood accents; original velvet interior; mother of pearl detail.
Dimensions: 18" H × 29" W × 16" D.
Condition: Good antique condition with expected surface wear for age, minor scuffs to the ebonized areas, some splitting to the top, and wear, and some separation to the interior velvet and fabric. Structurally sound and displays beautifully.
