A beautifully detailed vintage Portuguese artichoke plate, crafted in white-glazed earthenware with an elaborate raised botanical design. Its sculptural relief, glossy finish, and distinctive divided form make it a particularly charming example of decorative European tableware.

The plate features a recessed central well for the artichoke and a smaller compartment at the front for melted butter, vinaigrette, or dipping sauce. The surrounding surface provides space for the discarded leaves, making this an ingenious piece of specialty tableware.

The plate is richly ornamented with overlapping foliage, scrolling flourishes, and a stylized floral motif at its center. The raised decoration recalls the naturalistic designs associated with European majolica and faience, where botanical forms became an important part of both functional and decorative ceramics. Finished entirely in glossy white, the relief catches the light beautifully, allowing the intricate pattern to take center stage.
