Regency Rosewood Mother-of-Pearl Tea Caddy

A handsome Regency tea caddy in richly figured rosewood, crafted in the distinctive sarcophagus form and decorated with elegant scrolling mother-of-pearl inlay. The warm reddish-brown wood is beautifully complemented by the luminous light-colored inlay, which adorns the lid and sides in an intricate foliate pattern. The fitted interior retains its two lidded compartments, designed to store and separate different varieties of tea. 

Origin: Early-mid 19th century; England.
Material: Rosewood with mother of pearl inlay.
Dimensions: 9.25" L x 5.5" W x 5.5" H.
Condition: Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear and surface patina. Key present. Lock non-working. The rosewood retains a rich, warm finish with scattered marks and minor imperfections consistent with age. Some discoloration, and splitting to interior.
