Victorian Pedestal Kettle Stand

An elegant antique English Victorian brass pedestal kettle stand featuring an ornate square platform, pierced scrollwork, and a beautifully turned central column rising from a substantial circular foot. Its elevated design combines the practical purpose of a traditional trivet or kettle stand with the decorative qualities of a small pedestal display tray.

The square platform features an intricate arrangement of scrolling foliate cutouts surrounding a recessed circular center with a pierced floral motif. Decorative shaped edges extend downward from each side, while the slender baluster-form stem and stepped circular base provide an attractive contrast to the elaborate openwork above.

Dating stylistically to the late Victorian period, circa 1870–1890, pedestal stands of this kind served several domestic purposes, from supporting kettles and heated serving vessels to presenting cakes and other refreshments. Their ornamental metalwork reflects the Victorian appreciation for household accessories that were as decorative as they were functional.
