A magnificent, heavy English meat dome (cloche), dating roughly from the 1860s to the 1880s, engraved with a highly rare and personalized military or aristocratic armorial family crest. The custom engraving elevates this dome from a standard piece of antique tableware into a fascinating piece of genealogical history.

It depicts an arm in armor embowed (meaning bent at the elbow), with the hand firmly brandishing a curved scimitar or cutlass. In heraldry, an arm in armor represents leadership, defense, and high military readiness, while the scimitar specifically hints at family honors tied to Eastern campaigns or the Crusades.

Arm in Armour: An arm clad in armor signifies a person with qualities of leadership and protection, one who is prepared for battle and maintains a state of readiness. It represents strength, protection, and military prowess. Embowed: The bent position of the arm suggests action and the moment of striking. Scimitar / Cutlass / Sabre: These curved swords often denote military honor, particularly in Eastern campaigns (Crusades) or naval engagements (cutlass). They symbolize the execution of justice and the bravery required to defend one’s kin and country.

Featursing a clear depiction of a Maltese Cross medal, highly indicative of an elite order of knighthood, medical/relief services (like the Order of St. John), or a specific military bravery cross and a detailed star or neck-badge order decoration.
