A antique stoneware planter with a substantial, understated form. The warm ivory-buff stoneware has a softly speckled surface and lightly glazed finish, with a broad, rounded rim above a gently tapered body.
Its beauty is entirely in the proportions and material with the thick rolled rim, softly irregular surface, and warm neutral tone give it the quiet, utilitarian character that makes antique pottery so appealing. Rather than feeling overly decorative, it has the presence of an old garden or greenhouse piece that has naturally found its way indoors.
It makes a beautiful candle vessel, too. The neutral stoneware pairs naturally with an ivory or beeswax-toned candle and would look especially lovely on a kitchen island, dining table, mantel, or console. It could also be used in its original spirit with a small plant, moss, or seasonal arrangement.
