A beautiful example of mid-19th-century English soft-paste porcelain, this covered sugar pot features an elegant rounded body raised on a low pedestal foot, with molded handles at either side and a domed cover topped with a distinctive flower-form finial.

The white porcelain is delicately decorated with scattered floral sprigs in pink, puce, and green, accented by fine gilding along the rim. The combination of softly molded ornament, petite floral decoration, and restrained gilt detailing gives this piece the delicate, garden-inspired character associated with English porcelain of the period.

Originally intended as a covered sugar bowl, it would have been part of a tea or breakfast service. Covered sugar pots were an important component of Victorian-era tea services, used to hold refined sugar for the table. 

Lovely on a bedside table, breakfast table, writing desk, or small console, particularly styled with antique silver, botanical prints, small floral ceramics, or the other pieces from the Spring Ware collection.
