Scrollwork Iron Magazine Rack

A wonderfully decorative whimsical, mid-century wrought iron magazine rack, finished in aged green paint and embellished with scrolling ironwork and small applied metal flowers.

The rack is divided into two compartments, allowing magazines, newspapers, books or papers to be organized on either side of the tall central carrying handle. Its open construction is formed from a combination of flat iron straps and slender rods, worked into elongated loops, curls and symmetrical scrolls. Small dimensional flowers punctuate the sides, providing a charming contrast to the more graphic iron framework.

The green painted finish has developed surface wear and patina, with areas of oxidation and exposed metal appearing throughout the frame. Rather than obscuring the design, the worn finish emphasizes the curves and applied floral details and gives the piece the character of something that has been genuinely used. A lovely functional accent beside a reading chair or sofa, and equally useful for storing oversized books, magazines or rolled papers.
