Pumpkin Gourd Lidded Vessel

A charming Italian ceramic vessel in the form of a small ribbed pumpkin or gourd, finished in a wonderfully mottled glaze of olive green, deep forest green, and warm golden yellow. The rounded body has pronounced vertical lobes that continue onto the domed lid, which is topped with a short, sculptural stem.

The underside is marked “Hand Made in Italy” along with an Izaro mark. The exact Italian maker and date have not been established, but the mark confirms its Italian handmade origin.

As a candle vessel, the pumpkin form brings an unexpected bit of color and character to a kitchen counter, breakfast table, dining room, or autumnal tablescape. Fill with a warm ivory or beeswax-toned candle to complement the golden areas of the glaze.
