A finely detailed architectural watercolor depicting the historic Powis House on Great Ormond Street in London. The composition presents the grand classical façade of the former aristocratic mansion, with its symmetrical arrangement of windows, richly ornamented cornice, and imposing central entrance approached by a broad paved walkway.

Executed in a restrained palette of pale blue, stone gray, and warm cream, the watercolor carefully records the building's architectural proportions and decorative details. Formal garden beds flank the central approach, while neighboring buildings frame the stately residence. The work is inscribed “Powis House, Great Ormond Street” beneath the composition and bears a small signature or inscription at the lower right.

Powis House has a particularly remarkable history. Originally built around 1700 for the Marquess of Powis, the mansion later served as the residence of the French ambassador. Following a devastating fire in 1713–1714, it was rebuilt at the expense of the French crown and subsequently occupied by prominent figures, including Lord Chancellor Hardwicke. The building was demolished in 1777, making surviving architectural depictions of the house an appealing record of London's vanished Georgian grandeur.

Presented in a classic black-and-gold frame with an ivory-colored mount, this watercolor offers an elegant study of eighteenth-century British architecture and a fascinating piece of London's architectural history.
