A beautiful pink-toned blown glass vessel with an unusually ornate, sculptural form subtly resembling a strawberry. The rounded body is decorated with rows of elongated teardrop-shaped impressions, while a delicate applied glass rigaree (a raised, rope-like trail of glass) encircles the shoulder. The vessel rises on a short, rounded stem and broad circular foot, giving it the look of a miniature pedestal urn.
The combination of blown construction, applied glass ornament, optic-style surface decoration, and pedestal form is strongly associated with decorative art glass of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
As a candle vessel, the translucent blush-pink glass is especially pretty, the flame will illuminate the body and highlight the applied glasswork. The generous opening makes it well suited to a substantial candle, while the pedestal silhouette gives it a more decorative presence than a typical candle container.
Style it on a dining table, mantel, entry console, or bedside table, either alone or alongside antique silver, brass candlesticks, porcelain, and other pieces of colored glass. It would also be lovely filled with flowers when not being used as a candle.
