Oval Pierced Brass Kettle Stand

An attractive antique brass kettle stand featuring an elongated oval form, decorative pierced openwork, and four turned feet. Its symmetrical design combines geometric detailing with graceful curves, offering a particularly appealing example of traditional domestic metalwork.

The openwork surface features a repeating border of elongated arches surrounding an arrangement of intersecting curves and stylized leaf-shaped motifs. Small circular details punctuate the center, while four short, turned brass feet elevate the platform above the table. The warm golden finish contrasts with the darker, verdigris-toned patina visible on the underside.

Brass trivets and kettle stands were familiar accessories in Victorian and Edwardian households, used to protect dining tables, sideboards, and other surfaces from hot kettles and serving dishes. Their pierced construction was both practical and decorative, allowing heat to dissipate while incorporating ornamental patterns into everyday household objects.

Equally useful today as a decorative trivet or display stand, this oval example would make a handsome addition to a traditional kitchen, tea table, or collection of antique brassware. Its openwork design is especially attractive when displayed on a shelf or layered among other collected pieces.
