A wonderfully ethereal opalescent art glass bowl, formed with a deeply ruffled rim that rises and falls around the vessel like the opening petals of a flower.
The glass shifts from translucent clear and pale champagne tones through softly clouded opalescence, with vertical ribs extending upward into the individually shaped points of the rim. Light catches differently across every fold, giving the otherwise colorless vessel remarkable movement and dimension.
It has a slightly otherworldly quality without being precious about it. On a mantel, bedside table or tucked among old books and collected objects, it feels like the sort of vessel that might reasonably contain something magical. After the candle is finished, it can return to use as a decorative bowl, catchall or simply an art-glass object.
