Wm. Rogers "Melrose" Master Butter Knife, c. 1898

A beautiful example of the Melrose pattern by Wm. Rogers, introduced in 1898. This master butter knife features the pattern’s distinctive ornate handle with scrolling floral decoration and a softly twisted, dimensional form characteristic of the late 19th-century Art Nouveau aesthetic. The gracefully curved blade gives the piece an especially elegant silhouette.

The handle is monogrammed “MEA”, adding a personal detail and a glimpse into the piece’s history.
