Miniature Empire Chest of Drawers

A charming scaled Empire-style chest by Holzheimer’s of Cleveland, retaining its original Holzheimer’s inventory label identifying it as a “Ratisbon Chest, Empire, Four Drawer.” The petite form features four graduated drawers with raised rectangular panels, original round hardware, fluted and ring-turned pilasters, and turned bun feet beneath a substantial molded cornice.

The warm mahogany-toned finish has developed a beautiful patina over time, with age-appropriate surface wear throughout. The top drawer retains its original patterned paper lining, adding another lovely period detail.

Holzheimer’s was a long-established Cleveland decorating and interior-design firm founded in 1902, known for its work in furniture, interiors, and period-style furnishings. The firm operated a showroom featuring furniture in historical styles and pieces produced in its own shop by the mid-20th century. This chest retains the original Holzheimer’s label, providing an appealing piece of Cleveland design provenance.

A particularly wonderful piece for a collector of Empire furniture, miniature/scaled furniture, or Cleveland design history, and equally charming styled on a tabletop, in a study, dressing room, or layered into a collection of antique furniture.
