A beautiful late 19th-century Limoges porcelain plate by Martial Redon, featuring two finely painted fish surrounded by botanical sprigs against a softly rendered basket-weave ground. The naturalistic fish and foliage are beautifully contrasted by the warm ivory, taupe, and muted green palette, with a delicate gilt edge completing the piece.

The underside bears the “MR” factory mark associated with Martial Redon of Limoges, France. The plain green MR mark is consistent with the period of the firm's production, dating this example to c. 1882–1930. The hand-painted decoration and unusual fish subject make this a particularly charming example of turn of the century Limoges decorative porcelain.

A wonderful piece for a collected dining room, kitchen shelf, or plate wall, and equally lovely displayed on its own.

Origin: Early 20th century; Limoges, France.

Dimensions: 7.75" L x 7.75" W
