A richly decorative vintage Italian tole cachepot, painted with a vivid faux-malachite finish, with swirling emerald and deep green veining designed to imitate polished stone. The flared body is accented with gilt edging, lion-mask ring handles, and small paw feet, then set on a black plinth base decorated with a gilt laurel border.
One side features a central Neoclassical-style medallion with a floral urn motif, while the reverse is finished with a more restrained gilt foliate design. The combination of faux stone painting, classical ornament, and gilt metal details gives the piece a wonderfully theatrical Italian decorative quality.
Originally intended as a cachepot or decorative planter, they also work beautifully as a vessel for branches, flowers, or simply as a sculptural object or catch-all on a table, console, or mantle top.
