A decorative pair of fireplace andiron fronts in the Louis XV rocaille taste, each formed with sweeping acanthus-leaf scrolls, floral sprays, budding stems, and ribbon-like ornament. The mirrored compositions have the asymmetry and movement associated with French Rococo design and its later 19th-century revival.
These are decorative andiron fronts only and do not retain the rear log-rest supports required for functional fireplace use. Their sculptural form makes them especially striking as architectural or fireplace decor.
Origin: France, late 19th century to early 20th century
Material: Gilt metal/brass
Dimensions: 10" W x 17" H x 4.25" D
Condition: Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear, patina, and finish variation. These are salvaged decorative andiron fronts and do not include rear log-rest supports. One rear mounting bracket is slightly bent. Incised “45” to the reverse. Please refer to photos for condition details.
