A charming English biscuit barrel by Lingard, Webster & Co. of Tunstall, Staffordshire, dating to the early to mid-20th century (circa 1930s–1940s). Decorated in a warm cream glaze with striking black-and-gold checkerboard lustre bands and delicate floral transfer decoration, the barrel retains its original fitted ceramic lid and twisted metal swing handle with decorative brass-tone mounts.
Once the candle has burned, it is equally beautiful styled on a kitchen counter, open shelf, or bar cart, or reused to hold tea bags, wrapped treats, kitchen utensils, or other small household essentials.
