Glass Decanter & Wooden Coaster

A clear glass decanter of restrained cylindrical form, with softly rounded shoulders, a short neck, and a flared mouth beneath a broad, flattened circular stopper. The undecorated body gives particular emphasis to its proportions and the substantial profile of the stopper, whose ground glass shank fits into the neck. Its silhouette recalls traditional English decanter forms, although its maker, origin, and precise date remain unconfirmed.

Paired with the glass is a turned wooden coaster, its richly colored surface shaped with rounded horizontal moldings and a raised rim surrounding a deep blue fabric-lined interior. The warmth of the wood provides a handsome counterpoint to the clear glass, while an elaborate red tassel brings color and a more playful decorative finish. Together, the pieces make a distinctive addition to a sideboard or drinks cabinet, especially among silver bottle labels, cocktail glasses, and other collected barware. Includes the decanter, stopper, wooden coaster, and tassel.
