A richly detailed early 20th-century German interior painting depicting an elegant Berlin parlor opening onto a sunlit garden. Painted in oil on canvas, the scene combines the intimacy of an interior with the depth of a garden view beyond a pair of open French doors.

The room is remarkably detailed: deep plum-colored walls are hung salon-style with paintings and smaller framed works, while a piano or keyboard instrument with open sheet music sits beside a cabinet crowded with books, vessels, and flowers. Across the room, a small table is laid for tea beside green-upholstered chairs and a settee. A patterned green carpet and reflective parquet floor lead the eye toward the open doorway, where autumn foliage and a garden sculpture appear in brilliant daylight.

The stretcher bears a handwritten attribution to “R. Lorenz, Berlin” together with a Berlin Kunst und Handwerk dealer or workshop stamp. These markings are consistent with an attribution to German painter Ernst Hugo Lorenz-Murowana (1872–1954), who was active in Berlin and is documented as a painter of interiors as well as landscapes and marine scenes. Auction records place his activity in Berlin and identify him specifically as a German landscape, interior, and marine painter.

The painting is especially appealing as a document of domestic taste: layered artwork, books, upholstered furniture, piano, flowers, tea service, patterned rugs, and the uninterrupted sightline into the garden create the feeling of a fully inhabited European interior rather than a purely architectural study.
