Fruit & Wine Still Life Oil Painting

A late 19th-century still life depicting grapes, apples, a partially peeled orange, and a tall glass of red wine arranged against a dark ground. The composition is rooted in the Victorian still-life tradition, where richly colored fruit, glassware, and draped textiles were used to create depth and drama. 

The most distinctive detail here is the striped textile with a Greek-key border falling over the edge of the table, which gives the otherwise dark composition a strong graphic element. The painting retains visible age, including scattered surface wear and areas of paint loss, and is presented in an ornate period-style frame with layered molded decoration.
