French Portieux Vallerysthal “Blue Quail” Pattern Bowls, Pair

Sale price$90.00

Sold as presented; to be candled by Salvage Bohemia.

Variant sizes approx. 8 oz pour each / $2.30 oz

A striking pair of French ceramic bowls in the “Blue Quail” pattern by Portieux Vallerysthal, featuring richly detailed polychrome decoration of birds nestled among florals against a deep green ground. The interiors are finished with a delicate central bird vignette, while the exterior carries a continuous border of foliage, blooms, and perched birds framed by a stylized cartouche.

The crisp transferwork paired with hand-applied color gives these bowls both structure and vibrancy—hallmarks of Portieux Vallerysthal’s decorative wares. Beautiful for display on open shelving or layered into a collected table setting, where pattern and color bring depth and movement.

Origin: France, late 19th to early 20th century (Portieux Vallerysthal, “Blue Quail”).
Material: Glazed ceramic (polychrome transferware with hand-colored details).
Dimensions: Approx. [insert].
Condition: Light surface wear consistent with age and use; minor wear to the foot rims; overall excellent antique condition with no noted cracks or repairs.

Sold as a pair.
