A charming American folk-art landscape depicting a quiet rural pond with a white swan, farmhouse, trees, and tall grasses, housed in an unusual pierced and painted frame with scrolling foliate decoration in green, white, and gilt. The intentionally simplified landscape and naive treatment give the work its distinctive folk-art character. The painting is executed on an F. Weber & Co. Academy Board, a commercially prepared artist's support manufactured by the Philadelphia art-materials firm F. Weber & Co., providing an important period clue for the work.

Origin: c. 1887–1910.
Material: Oil on academy board; painted and gilt wood frame.
Dimensions: 21" L x 14.75" W
Condition: Good antique condition with age-related wear, including surface craquelure, minor paint loss, and noted chipping to the frame. Please see photographs for details.

Research note: The verso retains its original F. Weber & Co. Academy Board label. F. Weber & Co. was established in Philadelphia in the 19th century and adopted the F. Weber & Co. name in 1887. The label therefore provides a useful dating clue, though it does not identify the artist.
