Engraved Fish Knife & Fork Set in Wooden Case

An elegant antique English fish service comprising six knives and six forks, presented in its original fitted wooden case. Each piece features a smooth, ivorine celluloid handle, decorative silver-tone ferrule, and an engraved blade or fork head with delicate floral and scrollwork detailing.

The fish knives feature broad, gently curved blades embellished with floral sprays, latticework, and scrolling foliage. Their coordinating forks have four tines and shaped shoulders with restrained engraved ornamentation. Together, they reflect the elaborate table settings popular in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, when specialized flatware was an essential part of formal dining.

Traditionally used for serving and enjoying fish courses, the set is equally suited to a contemporary table, particularly for seafood dinners and special occasions. The contrast between the polished metalwork and creamy handles lends it an understated elegance that pairs beautifully with antique china, linen, and silver.

Housed in a dark wooden presentation case lined with pale blue fabric and navy retaining straps, the complete service is as appealing to display as it is to bring to the table. The knives bear a J H S / EP stamp, indicating electroplated metalwork.
