Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Statue

Quantity: Two available. Sold separately.

A charming vintage ceramic figure of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, inspired by the beloved Staffordshire pottery dogs traditionally displayed on English mantelpieces. Rendered in glossy black and white, the spaniel stands with its head turned attentively toward the viewer, its long ears, expressive eyes, and gently raised tail giving the figure a particularly endearing character.

The dog's flowing coat is modeled in sculptural waves, with black markings accentuating its ears, shoulders, and hindquarters against the creamy white glaze. Delicate facial details, including a softly pink nose and small dark eyes, lend the piece a playful personality while preserving the decorative simplicity associated with traditional English pottery figures.

Staffordshire spaniels became popular household ornaments in Victorian Britain, particularly during the 19th century, when pairs of ceramic dogs frequently occupied mantelpieces and cottage shelves. Often associated with the royal fondness for spaniels, these figures remain enduring symbols of English country house decoration. This example takes inspiration from that tradition, with a standing pose and lively expression that distinguish it from the more familiar seated mantel dogs.

A delightful addition to a collection of English ceramics, equally at home among antique books, transferware, or on a mantelpiece. Its black-and-white palette makes it especially versatile in both traditional and more eclectic interiors.
