Victorian Cast Iron Clawfoot Bathtub Foot

A late 19th-century Victorian cast iron bathtub foot marked “PERFECTO,” likely salvaged from a porcelain-enameled freestanding tub. Period plumbing advertisements from the 1890s document a Perfecto bath produced by Standard Manufacturing Co. of Pittsburgh, described with ornamental feet, making that line a plausible attribution for this piece.

The foot is cast with scrolling foliate and shell-like ornament above a rounded base, giving it the exaggerated sculptural quality typical of Victorian bath fittings. Remnants of an old pale painted finish remain across the iron, with dark exposed areas and surface wear adding to its architectural-salvage character. Removed from its original setting, it makes a wonderfully unusual shelf object, door stop, or cabinet-of-curiosities piece.
