A finely cast bronze match holder featuring a shield-form backplate adorned with a heraldic crest reading “The Emerson,” set above a scalloped tray base. Richly detailed with scrolling ornament and a classical profile, the piece balances decorative presence with everyday function.
The underside retains its original manufacturer’s mark for F. J. Joslin, New York, along with patent information, grounding the piece firmly in the early 20th century and adding to its appeal as a piece of American hotel ephemera.
