An elegant antique silver-plated centerpiece dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, featuring a striking cobalt blue glass liner and beautifully detailed Neoclassical ornamentation.

The shaped silver-plated frame features an openwork gallery adorned with delicate ribbon bows, draped garlands, and an oval medallion framed by beaded detailing. Four gracefully curved legs support the vessel, with sweeping arches beneath the bowl lending the design a particularly architectural quality. The rich cobalt blue glass rises above the gently undulating rim, creating a beautiful contrast against the silver and allowing its jewel-toned color to show through the pierced metalwork.

The design reflects the Neoclassical Revival movement that influenced European decorative arts throughout the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. Drawing upon the ornamental vocabulary of the 18th century, particularly the Louis XVI and Adam styles, manufacturers incorporated classical medallions, ribbon-tied swags, and delicate architectural forms into decorative silverware. Jardinières of this kind were fashionable additions to the dining table and drawing room, often displaying flowers or seasonal arrangements within their fitted glass liners.

Unmarked, the piece is attributed stylistically to European production around the turn of the 20th century. Its silver-plated framework and cobalt glass liner are characteristic of decorative tableware produced in England and Continental Europe during this period, similar to WMF.

Originally created for the presentation of flowers, this antique jardinière has been selected for conversion into a candle vessel. Its sculptural form and richly colored glass make it especially beautiful among antique silver, collected china, and traditional Christmas decorations, while retaining its decorative appeal throughout the year.
