Brass “No Smoking” Plaque

A handsome vintage brass sign bearing the words NO SMOKING in bold, raised lettering. Its substantial rectangular form, softened corners, and textured background give this practical little notice an appealing decorative quality.

The lettering is set within a raised rectangular border, with a repeating textured pattern across the recessed surface. Two mounting holes, one at either end, allow the plaque to be affixed to a door or wall. Years of handling and exposure have given the brass a beautifully varied finish, with warm golden highlights and darker patination around the lettering.

Signs such as these were traditionally used in public buildings, offices, railway interiors, and commercial establishments, where durable metal notices could withstand years of use.
