A sweet mismatched pair of small silver-plated baby utensils, bringing together a mid-century Danish Princess baby fork and a Oneida baby spoon. Baby and children's flatware was produced by American silver manufacturers as a smaller-scale version of their regular tableware, often making these pieces both practical keepsakes and charming gifts.

Danish Princess — Holmes & Edwards, 1938

A petite baby fork in Holmes & Edwards' Danish Princess pattern, introduced in 1938. Measuring approximately 4 1/4", it is specifically catalogued as a baby fork and was produced as part of the larger Danish Princess silverplate service. The pattern's clean, geometric lines and stylized botanical details reflect the period's interest in Scandinavian-inspired design.

Danish Princess was part of Holmes & Edwards' silverplate production and included an unusually extensive range of specialized pieces, from seafood and cocktail forks to sugar spoons and baby flatware. Baby spoon-and-fork sets in the pattern are documented at roughly 4–4 1/4", making these tiny utensils especially charming examples of the pattern.

Unknow Pattern, Community Plate — Oneida

A petite baby spoon by Oneida, marked Community Plate, with a simple rolled handle and rounded bowl. The spoon is monogrammed “JG,” adding a personal detail that was likely intended to commemorate its original young recipient. Community Plate was Oneida’s silver-plated line, introduced in 1899, and the company produced dedicated baby and child-sized utensils as part of its extensive flatware offerings.

Styling: Charming as a keepsake or incorporated into a nursery display, but also lovely for entertaining—use the petite utensils for serving small bites, olives, berries, or other accompaniments on a charcuterie or appetizer spread. The mismatched patterns give the pair a collected, vintage feel.

Origin: United States
