“Arch of the Library, Princeton” Signed Etching, George A. Bradshaw

An original etching by American artist George A. Bradshaw (1880–1968) depicting the richly ornamented arch of Princeton University’s historic library architecture. Bradshaw became known for finely rendered architectural subjects and produced a series of views of Princeton University alongside his extensive documentation of buildings and streets throughout New Jersey.

The composition focuses tightly on the Gothic archway, with carved figures, tracery, heraldic detail, and a succession of openings drawing the eye through the building beyond. Bradshaw’s precise linework makes the architecture feel almost monumental despite the relatively intimate scale of the print. The impression is titled “Arch of the Library, Princeton” in pencil at lower left and pencil signed “G. A. Bradshaw” at lower right, making those inscriptions worth calling out explicitly in the listing. Auction records also document multiple signed Bradshaw etchings from his Princeton University series.
