Beautiful Apilco “Ocean” porcelain soup bowls, made in France and decorated in an all-white palette with raised seashell and sea-life motifs. Each bowl has a softly rounded, footed form with small side handles and dimensional shell decoration around the exterior, giving them a wonderfully sculptural quality.
The Ocean pattern was produced by Apilco and is now discontinued. Apilco is particularly known for its durable, restaurant-quality French hard-paste porcelain made for professional and everyday service. Originally designed as individual handled soup bowls, these are especially charming for seafood-inspired entertaining like bisque, chowder, or French onion soup.
As candle vessels, the deep bowls and substantial porcelain construction make them especially pretty on a dining table, kitchen island, breakfast table, or bathroom vanity. The raised shells give the candle a lovely collected coastal character without feeling overly nautical.
