A beautiful vintage German alabaster pedestal bowl, hand-carved for Alabasterhaus and retaining its original manufacturer's label. Featuring warm honey-colored stone, classical proportions, and delicate ornamental carving, this substantial decorative bowl is a particularly attractive example of traditional European stonework.
The generously proportioned, shallow bowl features a broad, rounded rim embellished with a repeating carved leaf motif. Its smooth interior reveals natural variations in the alabaster, ranging from creamy ivory to golden amber, with the soft translucency characteristic of the material. Beneath the bowl, a short carved pedestal rises from a square plinth base, creating an elegant, neoclassical silhouette reminiscent of traditional ornamental tazzas.
The original label on the underside reads Genuine Alabaster, Exclusively Hand Carved for Alabasterhaus, followed by a German address. Alabaster has long been prized in European decorative arts for its translucency, distinctive veining, and suitability for intricate carving. This example combines the influence of classical architectural ornament with the craftsmanship of hand-carved decorative stone.
A handsome addition to a dining table, console, or mantel, this pedestal bowl makes an appealing centerpiece displayed on its own or filled with decorative objects. Its sculptural proportions and warm natural coloring lend themselves particularly well to traditional interiors and collections of antique and vintage European decorative arts.
