18th c. Pierre Fouquet Junior Amsterdam Engraving – Vue de la Nouvelle Église Wallonne

Sale price$325.00

A striking early 18th-century hand-colored engraving depicting the Nouvelle Église Wallonne (Walloon Church) in Amsterdam, engraved by Pierre Fouquet Junior, a known engraver active in the early 1700s. The composition centers on the church and surrounding canal, animated with boats, pedestrians, and architectural detail typical of the period.

This work bears direct attribution to Fouquet Junior as engraver, placing it firmly in the early 18th century. The engraving reflects the continued European fascination with Amsterdam as a cultural and religious center well into the new century.

The hand coloring is restrained yet luminous, with careful attention to foliage, masonry, and water. Presented in a contemporary frame that complements the engraving without competing with it.
