One wears powdered curls and a pale gown, while the other is shown with dark curled hair, pearls, and a blue-trimmed dress. The portraits appear to be later interpretations of 18th-century portraiture rather than something I would confidently identify as contemporary 18th-century likenesses.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThe reverse is covered with an \u003cb\u003eold handwritten paper document in French\u003c\/b\u003e, apparently reused as backing material, a charming bit of period construction that reinforces the handmade nature of the piece.
