18th c. Bell’s British Theatre Engravings — Corlyn and Jane Shore
A pair of original 18th-century engravings from Bell’s British Theatre, depicting Miss Pope as Corlyn and Mrs. Hartley as Jane Shore in character. Each figure is rendered in exquisite detail, showcasing Georgian theatrical costume and stage posture. Published in London as part of John Bell’s celebrated illustrated series, these engravings remain significant examples of early English theatrical art.
Origin: England, late 18th century.
Material: Hand-colored copperplate engravings, giltwood frame.
Dimensions: 14" x 11.5".
Condition: Light toning consistent with age; beautifully preserved within a later mat and gilt frame.
